My name is Jamari Gilbert, and I am running because I believe the greatest investment we can make is in our people—especially our youth. Baytown has given me every opportunity to succeed, and I believe it is my responsibility to give back through servant leadership, thoughtful decision-making, and a vision that prepares our city for generations to come.
I was born and raised in Baytown and am a proud graduate of Robert E. Lee High School's Class of 2013. Growing up here shaped who I am. It taught me the value of hard work, community, and the importance of having people who believe in you. Those lessons carried me to the University of the Incarnate Word, where I competed in Division I football and track while earning a Bachelor's degree in Sports Management and later a Master of Business Administration, graduating Cum Laude.
After college, I achieved a lifelong dream by playing professional football with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League. I also had the honor of representing Team USA in USATF Masters competition and becoming a three-time USATF National Champion. Those experiences taught me discipline, perseverance, teamwork, and leadership—qualities that continue to guide me today.
But no accomplishment has meant more to me than coming home.
In 2020, my wife, Morgan, and I made the decision to return to Baytown to build our future where our story began. Together, we opened Baytown Nutrition because we wanted to make a positive impact on our community's health and wellness. In April 2026, we expanded that mission by opening Soul Fuel TX at 146 Eats Food Truck Park, serving healthy, delicious meals to families throughout our community. As parents raising two daughters in Baytown, every decision we make is rooted in creating a healthier, stronger city for the next generation.
My passion for serving young people extends far beyond business. As the founder and head coach of Golden Era Track Club, I have had the privilege of mentoring hundreds of local athletes. Our program has produced 14 Junior Olympic athletes and more than 30 Texas state competitors, but our greatest success isn't measured by medals. It is measured by the confidence, discipline, leadership, and work ethic our athletes develop. Every practice reminds me that when we invest in young people, we strengthen the future of our entire community.
That same commitment has led me to serve in numerous leadership roles throughout Baytown. I have proudly served on the Goose Creek CISD School Health Advisory Council, GCCISD bond committees, and the GCCISD 2035 Committee, helping shape the future of education in our district. I also served for multiple years on the City of Baytown Parks and Recreation Board and currently serve as a Director on the Fire Control, Prevention and Emergency Medical Services District Board, where I work to support public safety and responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources.
These experiences have given me a firsthand understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our city. I've seen the incredible potential Baytown has, but I've also seen the need for leaders who are willing to listen, collaborate, and make decisions based on what is best for our community—not politics or personal agendas.
For me, this campaign is personal.
It is about ensuring our children have safe parks to play in, quality recreational opportunities, and mentors who encourage them to dream big. It is about supporting our first responders and investing in the infrastructure that keeps families safe. It is about helping local businesses thrive, attracting new economic opportunities, and ensuring Baytown remains a place where families choose to live, work, and raise their children. It is about protecting the values that have always made Baytown special while embracing thoughtful growth that benefits everyone.
Projects like EMBEC represent that vision. I believe they are more than development projects—they are investments in our youth and our future. By expanding recreational opportunities, creating jobs, strengthening our local economy, and improving quality of life, we can ensure the next generation has every opportunity to succeed right here in Baytown.
I am not running because I think one person has all the answers. I am running because I believe leadership begins with listening. Throughout my life—as an athlete, coach, business owner, husband, father, and community volunteer—I have learned that the best results come when people work together toward a common goal.
My vision is simple: build a Baytown where families feel safe, businesses can prosper, young people have every opportunity to succeed, and every resident has confidence that their city government is working for them.
Baytown has invested in me my entire life. Now, I am ready to dedicate my experience, energy, and heart to investing in Baytown. Together, we can build on our city's proud history while creating an even stronger future for generations to come.
The future of Baytown depends on the opportunities we provide our young people today. Every child deserves access to safe parks, quality recreation, youth sports, mentorship programs, and educational opportunities that prepare them for success. As a father and founder of Golden Era Track Club, I have witnessed firsthand how athletics, mentorship, and positive role models can transform lives. I will advocate for continued investments in parks, recreational facilities, after-school programming, and partnerships with schools and local organizations that keep our youth engaged, active, and on a path toward success. By investing in our children today, we strengthen families, reduce crime, and build a stronger Baytown for tomorrow.
Every resident deserves to feel safe at home, at work, and in our parks. Supporting our police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and emergency management professionals is essential to maintaining a high quality of life. As a current Director on the Fire Control, Prevention and Emergency Medical Services District Board, I understand the importance of investing in emergency services, maintaining reliable infrastructure, and preparing for future growth. I will support responsible investments in public safety, neighborhood improvements, drainage, roads, and infrastructure while ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent wisely and transparently.
Baytown should be a city where small businesses can thrive, entrepreneurs can succeed, and families have access to good-paying jobs close to home. As a small business owner, I understand both the challenges and opportunities that local businesses face. I will work to attract new employers, support workforce development, encourage responsible commercial growth, and create an environment where existing businesses can expand. Projects that bring quality jobs, enhance tourism, and improve quality of life should be pursued thoughtfully while preserving Baytown's unique identity and supporting local entrepreneurs.
A healthy community is a strong community. My wife and I have dedicated our careers to helping Baytown residents live healthier lives through Baytown Nutrition and Soul Fuel TX. I believe our city should continue investing in trails, parks, recreational amenities, community events, and wellness initiatives that encourage active lifestyles for residents of all ages. Expanding access to outdoor recreation, improving public spaces, and creating family-friendly destinations will not only improve health outcomes but also make Baytown an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.
Leadership begins with listening. Throughout my service on the GCCISD School Health Advisory Council, GCCISD bond committees, the GCCISD 2035 Committee, the Baytown Parks and Recreation Board, and the Fire Control, Prevention and Emergency Medical Services District Board, I have learned that the best decisions come from collaboration and transparency. If elected, I will be accessible, communicate openly with residents, and make decisions based on facts, fiscal responsibility, and the long-term interests of our community. My commitment is to serve every resident with integrity, accountability, and a focus on results that will strengthen Baytown for generations to come.
